What?
Bird is a micro-electric mobility company that provides eco-friendly electric transportation to the public with its electric scooters. We are advertising to increase the number of Bird app downloads and use among JMU students, before the end of fall 2022.
Who?
For this project, we were targeting James Madison University college students between the ages of 18 and 23, in Harrisonburg Virginia. Most of them live off campus and some live on campus in the dorms. Most students are unemployed and don’t have a lot of spending money. Most want to attend classes and do the best they can, but some are lazy and may not want to walk to class.
Big Idea:
Bird is the most convenient and inexpensive way to get around quickly and efficiently.

Video Ad:
Our Creative approach was centered around the idea that Bird Scooters are truly the easiest and most inexpensive way for JMU students to get around campus. We wanted our advertisements to be humorous as well as tell a story in order to successfully hold college students' attention.

For the radio ad, we wanted to tell a modern love story that college students know too well. Two students were texting back and forth deciding how they were going to be able to see each other that night. The best solution was to take a Bird. For the video ad, we wanted to tell a realistic story about getting to class on time. We took a comedic approach using a cheesy song to create a more light-hearted ad.
Overall, our “hook” was to tell two different stories (one for radio and one for tv) with conflicts that were realistic for college students in order to prove that riding a Bird is the most efficient and inexpensive way for JMU students to solve the issue of traveling on campus.
